Embracing inspiration, defining my voice

March 2025

The co-editor of ELEMENTS Magazine, Olaf Sztaba asked on Facebook the other day how we translate inspiration from someone else's work but make images that are our own. This question struck a chord because I have often thought about this question on my photography journey. My answer has changed over time so I thought it would be interesting to tell you about my experience. The article I wrote is not a direct response per se to Olaf's question and may not gel with you because we all have different experiences. I hope my ideas serve as a point of reference, however, or at least constitute some fun reading.
